What to buy here
What to look for here
World Market (formerly Cost Plus World Market) is an imported home goods chain founded in 1958 in San Francisco. Today it has about 250 stores in the US, most of them in California, Texas and Florida.
To me it's a pretty interior design store, and not a cheap one. Most of what's here is for the home: small furniture, decor "from all over the world" (rattan, ceramics, rugs, curtains), dishes, textiles, candles. There isn't much food - a small area with imported sweets, snacks, coffee, tea and wine, all brought in from different countries. Strong seasonal sections for Halloween and Christmas.
Everything is pretty and aesthetic, but pricier than at HomeGoods: there it's a random assortment at a discount, while here you pay regular store prices. Usually pricier than Target too, but cheaper than designer furniture chains. Dishes and glass are fragile and heavy.
From our shopping trips
We had 2 shopping trips at World Market. Most items cost $6-15, and only a few were over $30. Discounts are small - around 10%.
