In September 2025 the chain closed about 1% of its coffee shops in North America (hundreds of locations). In September 2026 the closing of about 250 more coffee shops by year-end was announced.

What to buy here
What to look for here
Starbucks in America is a whole cult, a whole era. Every Starbucks cafe sells coffee to go (in bags and whole beans) and souvenir mugs. If you love these products, be sure to stop in.
Every state and major city has its own series of mugs and tumblers - "Been There" (called "You Are Here" until 2018). It's mostly sold only there: you have to buy the New York mug in New York. There are mini versions and Christmas ornaments, and rare mugs go for several times the price among collectors.
Several times a year Starbucks releases seasonal collections of mugs and tumblers: for Valentine's Day, spring, summer, Halloween and Christmas. The holiday drinkware comes out in early November along with the winter menu, and the hits sell out within the first hours.
From our shopping trips
We had 6 Starbucks shopping trips: mugs, tumblers, bottles and coffee. Mugs and tumblers cost $18-31, bags of coffee $9-16. We also came across 50% markdowns.
