What it is
A premium shopping center is a big mall or shopping street with boutiques of luxury and premium brands and high-end department stores: Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's. They sell current collections at full price - unlike outlets, which carry past seasons and separate outlet lines.
How they differ from outlets: at an outlet the discount is 30-70% every day, but the collections are past ones. At a premium center you get new arrivals and the full range of models, sizes and colors, with discounts only during sales. If you need a specific model from the current collection, come here. If price matters most, go to an outlet, for example Premium Outlets.
Which products and brands
- Luxury boutiques: Chanel, Dior, Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada, Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Tom Ford, Cartier, Tiffany. The best-known centers have a separate luxury wing.
- Department stores: Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's, Macy's, and in Texas and Arizona also Dillard's. They bring together dozens of designer labels, luxury beauty and fragrance.
- Premium and mass-market brands side by side: Apple, Zara, Uniqlo, Lululemon, sports and shoe stores - in one center it's easy to get through the whole list in a day.
- People come here for new arrivals and things you won't find at outlets: current collections, bestselling bags, jewelry and watches, luxury beauty and fragrance.
