JCPenneyDiscounts, sales and what to buy

Сеть закрывает магазины

In May 2025 the chain closed 7 stores, and in 2026 a few more (Pleasanton, Springfield, Sanford and others). About 640-650 stores remain.

Watch for closing sales: before closing, a store sells off its remaining stock, and discounts grow every week. Before you go, check whether the store in your city is still open - on the chain's website or in Google Maps.

Affordable department store: basic clothing for the whole family, kids' items, shoes, frequent coupons.

What to buy here

What to look for here

JCPenney is a mid-range and budget department store: clothing for the whole family, kids' items, shoes, underwear, home goods, lots of its own labels (St. John's Bay, Arizona) and well-known brands like Levi's and Nike. It's interesting mainly for affordable kids' clothing, basics, shoes, bedding and curtains. The core of the selection is its own labels: St. John's Bay, Stafford, Arizona, Worthington, a.n.a, Xersion, Okie Dokie, Thereabouts, Liz Claiborne. The Sephora sections inside JCPenney closed in 2023; in their place is now JCPenney Beauty, the store's own line.

My take

I stopped by JCPenney now and then, but I never got a "wow" feeling, even when they were handing out $20 coupons. The selection is conservative, aimed more at the older generation: a typically American set of popular brands, lots of country and western style. It can be hard to find anything interesting here. This is my personal opinion - maybe you'll find something of your own here.
