What to buy here
What to look for here
H&M is a Swedish chain of affordable fashion for women, men and children, plus accessories and home goods (H&M Home). Solid mass-market. The assortment changes fast: what's on the rack today may be gone in a couple of weeks.
H&M is found both in malls and in outlet centers. There's no separate "H&M Outlet" chain in the US: outlets (for example, many Premium Outlets) have regular H&M stores, but with bigger markdowns.
My experience: lots of digging
What I've noticed over the years of shopping here
I feel neutral about H&M: to find something worthwhile you have to dig a lot. But if you shop there at a premium outlet, you can walk out with a mountain of clothes for $100.
In malls everything is neatly hung. In outlets there are fixed-price racks; in my experience there are racks where everything is $5, and extra sales come up very often. But there's also a lot of torn and damaged stuff: check every item - seams, stains, snags, zippers.
