After Dick's acquired the chain in 2025, unprofitable stores are closing: 57 closed during 2025 (worldwide). In 2026 there are fewer closings than planned, and the exact number has not been disclosed.
Watch for closing sales: before closing, a store sells off its remaining stock, and discounts grow every week. Before you go, check whether the store in your city is still open - on the chain's website or in Google Maps.

What to look for here
Foot Locker is one of the main sneaker chains in the US: Nike, Jordan, adidas, New Balance, Puma, Asics, Timberland and activewear. The chain belongs to Dick's Sporting Goods, but the stores operate under their own names: Foot Locker, Kids Foot Locker and Champs Sports. These are usually small stores in malls: the selection is smaller than at Dick's, but there are more fashionable models.
Kids Foot Locker has the same models in kids' and teens' sizes, and they are noticeably cheaper than adult ones. Teens and women with small feet often fit grade school (GS) sizes - the same model for less.

Marked-down models sit on a separate sale wall or shelf - this is the main way to buy for less. The second option is closed sales for FLX members. Promotions like "second pair at a discount" are common - the terms change, check the app. New releases are never discounted.
