What to look for here
Famous Footwear is a family shoe chain with about 820 stores. Most often these are strip malls and big roadside retail centers, but there are stores in outlet centers too. Nike, Jordan, adidas, New Balance, Puma, Reebok, Under Armour, Skechers, Vans, Converse and Crocs sneakers and casual shoes, Timberland boots, Steve Madden fashion women's shoes and a big kids' department, plus backpacks and kids' accessories. Prices are lower than at DSW.

How to read the price and where it's lowest
- The main mechanic is BOGO (Buy One Get One 50% off): the second pair at half price. Often the promotion applies only to program members. The price of one pair depends on what you buy together with it.
- In the app, a member can turn on an Extra BOGO 1/2 OFF day or a double-points day for themselves - handy to save it for the day of the trip.
- The chain has no fixed schedule of BOGO promotions, they change - check the app before you go.
- Clearance is on separate racks.
- Coupons arrive for program members in the app and by email.
- Back to school (July-August) is the main season, especially for kids' shoes: lots of promotions and lots of shoppers. Also Black Friday, December and January.
