Dollar TreeWhat to buy for pennies
In fiscal 2026 the chain is closing about 75 stores and opening about 400, so the total is growing (9,382 as of May 2026).
The cheapest little things: almost everything is $1.25 - holiday decor, stationery, beauty.

What to buy here
What to look for here
At Dollar Tree, most items cost one base price - $1.25. For many years everything here was $1, but since the end of 2021 the base price was raised to $1.25, and it has held ever since. Seasonal and holiday items are the best here: decor for Halloween, Christmas, Easter and Valentine's Day, balloons, candles, party sets, gift bags. People also pick up American candy, stationery and craft kits, organizers, small beauty items (sponges, brushes, hair ties) and inexpensive dupes of popular cosmetics and skincare.
The chain is now expanding its range above the base price: separate displays and shelves at $3 and $5 have appeared. These shelves have their own price tags, but the main part of the store still costs $1.25.
In my experience, it is convenient here to buy things you won't mind parting with: coloring books, pencils and little things for kids on the road that can be given away or thrown out after the trip.
A hit with my clients: Arctic Ice gel
Arctic Ice Pain Relieving Gel, a cooling pain-relief gel - a blue jar with light-blue gel and a large ICE label, 198 g. It is rubbed on tired muscles and joints: it cools and leaves no greasy residue. LerBee clients buy it a lot - in my Dollar Tree shopping trips it was ordered more than twenty times.

My experience: awful and wonderful at the same time
What I've noticed over the years of shopping here
Dollar Tree is a store that is awful and wonderful at the same time. Once I carried $1,700 worth of goods out of it - this was back when everything cost a dollar, not $1.25. That is, 1,700 items.
Dollar Tree is still one of the most frequent stores in our shopping trips: there were almost twenty of them, each with anywhere from a hundred to over four hundred items. Almost everything we showed cost $1.25-5; items above $5 were few.
