What to buy here
What to look for here
Dollar General is the largest chain in the US by number of stores, with more than 20,000 locations. It is a neighborhood store format: the stores are most often found in small towns, rural areas and suburbs, and in the countryside it is often the nearest store for many miles. Despite the name, it is not "everything for a dollar": prices vary, but on average they are lower than in regular supermarkets.
The range is wide: groceries and snacks, household cleaning products, beauty and personal care, a first-aid section and vitamins, home goods, inexpensive toys, party supplies, school stationery, pet food. The range changes with the seasons - decor and gift items appear for the holidays.
My experience
What I've noticed over the years of shopping here
I love this store. I wouldn't expect any wow finds here - it is a store for everyday inexpensive goods. But if you come across one on your way, it is worth stopping in to look.
