dd's DISCOUNTSWhat to buy and what discounts there are
The younger and most budget-friendly Ross chain: prices 20-70% below regular, but quality is uneven and you have to dig through a lot.

What to buy here
What to look for here
dd's DISCOUNTS belongs to the same company as Ross Dress for Less and is aimed at the shopper for whom price comes first: 20-70% below the regular prices of department stores and discount stores. Clothing and shoes for the whole family, underwear and pajamas, accessories, home textiles and dishes, toys, a little beauty, electronics and snacks. About 380 stores in 24 states, mostly in California, Texas and Florida.
People often think that dd's gets what Ross didn't sell. That isn't quite so: the chain buys its own merchandise, and most of the brands here are different from Ross. But the selection is weaker in level: fewer well-known brands, and the quality and condition of items are less consistent. Sometimes Nike, Adidas and Puma sneakers turn up, but don't count on them.
My experience: an honest warning
What I've noticed over the years of shopping here
I haven't come across a dd's with a good selection yet. If Ross isn't the strongest off-price store, the selection here is even more modest. It's fine to stop by to get a general idea, but I'd only go in when I have free time and have already covered the other stores nearby. If you do go, check the seams, the fabric and the zippers on the spot.
