What to look for here
Burlington (formerly Burlington Coat Factory) is an off-price chain with clothing for the whole family, shoes, bags, kids' items and home goods. Outerwear is its strongest area, so in fall and winter it is worth going for jackets and puffer coats. Prices are close to Ross, the brands are similar to TJ Maxx. There is no online store, so you can only buy in the store.
There are departments with stationery and arts-and-crafts supplies - the selection there is random, but discounted. Designer brands like Burberry and Jimmy Choo show up here only as fragrance; you won't find clothing or bags from those labels at Burlington.
From our shopping trips
We made almost 60 shopping trips at Burlington. About three quarters of the items in them cost $6-30, and on the best finds the discount went up to 90%. Most of the finds were outerwear: a Calvin Klein coat for $40 instead of $400, a camel coat for $70 instead of $500, a Tumi puffer for $90 instead of $500. Among brands, the ones that turn up most often in the stores are Calvin Klein, Guess, Tommy Hilfiger and Juicy Couture.
