What to buy here
What to look for here
Bloomingdale's is a premium department store from the same company as Macy's, but a step up: designer clothing, shoes and bags, luxury beauty and fragrance, home goods. There are about thirty stores, mostly in big cities - New York, California, Florida, Chicago and others. The flagship on 59th Street in New York is a shopping destination of its own.
Mostly premium and designer brands here: the flagships have luxury boutiques, plus strong beauty, fragrance and home departments. There is almost no mass market, which is why prices are higher than at Macy's.
From our shopping trips
We did two shopping trips at Bloomingdale's, about 200 items. Prices ranged from $3 to $400, but most items cost $31-100: it's a pricier store than the off-price chains. On clearance, discounts reached 80-87%. The brands we saw most often were Boss, Hugo, Calvin Klein and Timberland.
