What to look for here

Armani Exchange is Armani's young line: T-shirts and sweatshirts with the logo, jeans, jackets, watches, bags and belts. It's the Armani name at a price you can afford, especially in menswear. At an outlet there may also be a separate Armani Outlet store with more expensive lines. Don't confuse it with Armani Outlet, a separate store for Armani's main lines, where items cost many times more.

My experience: ask about the discount yourself

What I've noticed over the years of shopping here

Sometimes you have to ask about certain items yourself. When I used to go to Armani Exchange, the staff watched me closely, and I never got the extra discount. Armani Exchange has a 10% discount in Simon+, but I've been to almost all the Armani stores in many states, and very rarely did I manage to get it.

Before the shopping trip starts, go up to the staff and ask directly: "I have 10% off, which items does it apply to?" They'll tell you specifically: it may not work on clearance, but it works on this.

Armani Exchange also has clearance racks, and very often good items turn up on them. One of my favorite stores was at Phoenix Premium Outlets: I drove there from California on purpose, and it was the best Armani Exchange I've seen in America, with a huge selection. Once we carried out more than 100 pairs of shoes from there for $30-35.

Armani Exchange has some very interesting sales with a fixed price for a whole rack: shoes for $30 or $50, all clothing for $30. Sometimes there's an extra discount on one of the racks when you spend over a certain amount, or "buy four items, get an extra 25% off." All of this is posted inside the store.

Discounts on the main collection and on clearance don't stack; each has its own extra discounts. So when you arrive at the store, ask the salesperson right at the entrance which items the discount covers, so you know whether you'll get it.
